I question why you were in my dream last night.
You forced yourself in to be found in my sight,
Yet you haven’t come to mind in about a year,
And so I had hesitation when you came near.
Staring at you and you haven’t changed a bit.
With your magnetic smile and those eyes all lit.
Your amiable demeanor welcomed me to the front door.
As we leaned in closer, I felt comfort; I became secure.
We talked about our lives and what was new.
As we gave each other updates from before I was gone.
Your humor reeled me in, with your jokes making me giggle.
The nostalgic feeling appeared to me, little by little.
We decided to walk through the serene outdoors.
As we passed through city life, which seemed familiar from before.
You wanted to chat sitting with a scenic view,
So we sat on the bench that was made for two.
You gazed at my face, said there’s glistening in my eyes.
As we passed on a smile, I know this feeling never lies.
I recalled my feelings towards you, which I know we both did miss,
So you took that opportunity to lean slowly for the kiss.
After the precious moment, we gave a smile once again.
Which was a passionate feeling I couldn’t hide nor pretend.
My heart sank to recall what prevented us from being true,
Was the mere fact I moved on with someone brand new.
The news overcame you, looking at me with despair.
With shock, fear, then silence— you were surely unprepared.
I was hesitant to hold you; I know we wouldn’t be the same.
The tension overflowed us; I was the only one to blame.
I’m now covered by sheets, in my own bed, in my own room.
I feel a figure beside me, so I peep and it’s not you.
It’s difficult to grasp; you’ll be a memory from the past.
I know what I felt was real; we’ll meet again if meant to last.
